Under the energetic leadership of Chairman Astrid Stanfield-Pinel, French Heritage Society’s Paris Chapter organizes a variety of social events for its French and visiting American members. These include ‘Cultural Cocktails’ with guest lecturers in private Parisian apartments; special ‘behind-the-scenes’ visits to select destinations and restoration projects; gala dinners and prestigious fundraising events; workshops; and cultural excursions outside of Paris.
Proceeds from Chapter benefits have been designated for specific grants that members have voted to support. The Paris Chapter has raised funds for restoration projects including The American Cathedral in Paris; and Château de Vixouze in France; as well as providing significant support to projects in New Orleans as part of FHS’s Katrina Heritage Rescue Fund.

The château de Corbeville was built in 1619 by the Lecoq family (noblesse de robe parisienne). First a fortified castle, then a
“château d’agrément” at the end of the 18th century, it has remained in the Lecoq family until 1920. Successively bought by
the Havillands, the fashion designer Jacques Fath and the French singer Gérard Lenorman, it has been restored by the present
day owners Monsieur et Madame Vergely. They entirely redesigned their park according to the 1787 plan kept in Versailles’
archives. We will have the pleasure of discovering this beautiful park with them. From there, we will proceed to the château de
Rosay where Nicole Vecchioli, member of the Paris Chapter, will kindly receive us for lunch and then guide us through her
marvelous landmark park. The château de Rosay was built in 1618 by François Courtin. King Louis XIV elavated Rosay to a
marquisat. In 1768, marquis de Brétignières had the celebrated follies in the park built by the architect Antoine. Passed down
to different owners, the château was purchased at the end of the 19th century by the ancestors of the present owners. Major
work was undertaken to restore the splendor of this park that had been abandoned for a long time.
