Under the energetic leadership of Co-Chairmen Dominique Flahaut de Billarderie and
Astrid Stanfield-Pinel, French Heritage Society’s Paris Chapter organizes a variety of social
events for its French and visiting American members. These include ‘Cultural Cocktails’
with guest lecturers in private Parisian apartments; special ‘behind-the-scenes’ visits to
select destinations and restoration projects; gala dinners and prestigious fundraising
events; workshops; and cultural excursions outside of Paris.
Proceeds from Chapter benefits have been designated for specific grants that members
have voted to support. The Paris Chapter has raised funds for restoration projects including
The American Cathedral in Paris; and most recently Château de Vixouze in France; as
well as providing significant support to projects in New Orleans as part of FHS’s Katrina
Heritage Rescue Fund.

Les Salons de l\'Hotel de Ville
Since 1357 when Etienne Marcel acquired the Maison des Piliers, the headquarters of Parisian municipal institutions have always been situated on this same spot. Today City Hall, rebuilt by Theodore Ballu and Edouard Deperthes after a fire set by the Comunards in 1871, is an exact replica of the one designed by Boccardor in the 16th century. We will discover this Palace of Paris and its history. Through the decor of these magnificent reception rooms we will encounter many of the political, artistic and cultural leaders who played important roles in this symbolic heart of the history of Paris and the Parisians.
