French Heritage Society’s Cleveland Chapter expanded in 2006 to encompass the Northern
Ohio region, and thus changed its title. The Chapter organizes a variety of cultural and social
events for its members throughout the year. Proceeds from its benefits have been designated
for specific grants that members have voted to support. The Chapter has raised funds for
restoration projects in France, such as Château de Buzay and Château de Chailvet.
Each year, the Chapter holds its annual Bastille Day Celebration at a special location; other
Chapter highlights have included a Remembrance Day dinner, the most recent of which
featured Paris born chanteuse Claudia Hommel, who enchanted guests with chansons
françaises. Earlier in March, the Chapter presented its French Cinema Soirée: “Vatel”
Starring Gerard Depardieu, and Uma Thurman as the courtesan, with scenes filmed at
Château de Vaux le Vicomte.
