The Northern California Chapter began in 1984. The following year, the Chapter organized
a special tour of privately owned historical monuments and hidden treasures of the Ile de France
and Burgundy countryside. The Chapter has supported French Heritage Society’s education
programs and restoration projects, including properties in Louisiana as part of the Katrina
Heritage Rescue Fund; Hôtel de Talleyrand in Paris; Chartres Cathedral, Château de Montigny;
and most recently, Abbaye de Valmagne. Of special note to Californians is the grant of $25,000
which the Chapter provided for upgrading the system of seismic protection for the San Francisco
War Memorial Opera House.
Recent Chapter highlight events included a visit to the atelier of renowned floral designer Thierry
Chantrel, and a gathering to celebrate the Fête de Rois at the French Consulate, hosted by
Consul General and Mme. Frederic Desagneaux
Dori Bonn and Patsy Seidler are Co-Chairmen of the Northern California Chapter.
