ABOUT FHS
French Heritage Society (FHS) was founded in 1982 to help preserve the
architectural patrimony of France and the French legacy in America.
French Heritage Society fulfills its mission in both countries by providing
restoration grants; educational programs and exchanges; cultural travel
opportunities; commemoration of events that have marked French-American
history; and emergency intervention in response to natural disasters.
Today, French Heritage Society comprises 14 Chapters in the United States and
one in Paris. Our members are like-minded individuals who share a love of
France, French culture, and the pleasures of “l’art de vivre,” as well as a deep
commitment to historic preservation. Members attend activities organized by
their local Chapter and are welcomed at those held in other cities. They also
receive invitations to participate in cultural trips and in Gala Anniversary
festivities in magnificent settings, such as the Châteaux de Versailles, Villandry,
Chenonceau, and Vaux-le-Vicomte.
French Heritage Foundation is the sole representative in the United States of
the major French preservation associations Vieilles Maisons Françaises,
La Demeure Historique, and Le Comité des Parcs et Jardins de France.
French Heritage Society is an American not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt,
charitable organization, and is assisted by meaningful support from its
membership and partnerships.
We invite you to join us in celebrating the friendship between our two
nations and in working to preserve the precious architectural heritage
that is our common property and shared responsibility.
